IVA Spacesuit Systems Engineer

MbSolutions Inc•Houston, TX

About The Position

The IVA Spacesuit Systems Engineer supports exploration projects by applying systems engineering principles and practices across systems. The role develops systems-engineering lifecycle artifacts and guides other team members in creating them. It works closely with customers, team leads, and team members and requires technical knowledge of human spaceflight engineering and strong communication skills. The engineer participates in and supports activities across the systems lifecycle, including early concept development, trade studies, design, integration, testing, verification and validation, operations, and sustainment. The role helps define stakeholder needs, decompose system functions, develop technical requirements, negotiate and document interfaces, perform design analyses, plan and execute verification and validation, and support system testing and operations. It also develops and models concepts; contributes to requirements definition, flow-down, assessment, and verification; and works on concepts of operations and software V&V plans. Additional work includes identifying risks and developing risk statements and responses, reviewing documentation for major milestone reviews and hazard analyses, participating in trade studies and stakeholder reviews, attending project meetings and providing summaries to technical leads, and reporting progress, issues, and support requests to the team lead. The engineer maintains professional relationships with the NASA customer, other NASA support contractors, and HLS commercial partners, and performs other duties as required.
