About The Position

Sentara is hiring an IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician II at Virginia Beach General Hospital. The IV Pharmacy Tech performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. This role demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area, with the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Training in advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions is provided, and the technician will assume local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions. They will also participate in the training of new employees, fill and deliver medications under supervision, ensure adequate supplies are available, triage and escalate issues, use appropriate systems for processing patient information, maintain quality assurance, and operate pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)
  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area

  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions
