About The Position
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a talented Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding Technician with experience and a passion for sterile compounding and serving patients. This role involves partnering with physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff to provide exceptional care. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with first shift hours (Monday-Friday, 8.5-hour shifts with varied start times between 5:30 am and 6:30 am) and requires working every third weekend.
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age required.
- Minimum of three months tenure in Nebraska Medicine inpatient pharmacy department or demonstrated experience in sterile compounding required.
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification within six months of licensed date required.
- Internal Aseptic Technique training completed within two weeks of hire required.
Nice To Haves
- Hazardous medication and/or total parenteral nutrition (TPN) compounding experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform sterile compounding according to policy and regulations including USP 797 and USP 800.
- Maintain competency in use of all equipment and programs related to performing sterile compounding.
- Participate in medication management for pharmacy compounding, including medication and supply ordering, receiving, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software issues relating to compounding.
- Participate in completing and documenting all cleaning and monitoring activities identified for areas related to sterile compounding.
- Practice critical and focused thinking and perform calculations as needed to validate activities.
- Work within a team to triage and respond to all compounding needs in a timely manner, following supervisor shift pharmacists' oversight.
- Maintain ongoing didactic and practical training as related to sterile compounding.
