IV Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding
About The Position
Sentara is hiring an IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician II at Virginia Beach General Hospital. The IV Pharmacy Tech performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. This role demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area, with the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Training in advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions is provided. The technician assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions, participates in the training of new employees, and fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position. They ensure adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care, triage and escalate any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed, use appropriate systems for processing patient information, and ensure quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements. The technician also operates pharmacy equipment appropriately. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)
- 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
Nice To Haves
- 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)
