About The Position

We are looking for an IT Systems Engineer to maintain, support, and enhance our IT infrastructure. This role focuses on system administration, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and driving IT projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a solid technical foundation ready to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and grow into our resident expert on AI-powered IT workflows. You will provide technical guidance to the IT Support and Solutions teams and ensure that day-to-day operations are consistently improved. We are looking for someone who is AI-forward—excited to evaluate and deploy new solutions that help our team scale efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience), combined with 1–3 years of proven experience as an IT Systems Engineer, system administrator, or in a similar IT support role.
  • Strong knowledge of MacOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, PowerShell, or Bash to "automate the boring".
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and SaaS administration (Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian).
  • Experience with MDM systems (Kandji/Iru, Jamf, FleetDM, ScaleFusion, etc.) and an understanding of identity platforms like Okta.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating, deploying, or building AI-integrated workflows—including familiarity with MCP servers, automation platforms (Workato, n8n), or LLM API integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini).
  • Experience with AI agent frameworks or orchestration tools.
  • Ability to work strategically in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment under tight deadlines with the comfort to drive an idea from research to implementation.
  • A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for AI: you follow space developments, rapidly evaluate new tools, and aren’t afraid to experiment.
  • Understanding of responsible AI practices, including data privacy considerations when using AI tools with sensitive company data.
  • Understanding of basic security principles, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and responsible AI practices regarding data privacy.
  • Strong verbal and written skills with a customer-centric mindset and a bias toward action.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing user accounts and permissions across Mac, Windows, and Linux environments, focusing on Okta Workforce, OIG, and group governance.
  • Maintain MDM baselines and patching across a multi-OS environment using tools like Kandji, FleetDM, and Scalefusion.
  • Resolve complex IT service tickets and provide high-level technical support to internal users.
  • Contribute to building and iterating on AI agents and automation pipelines (e.g., ticket triage, onboarding) using AI tools, MCP servers, Workato, or custom API integrations.
  • Serve as the primary resource for evaluating emerging AI tools, leading efforts to deploy solutions that improve workflows, and helping teammates incorporate AI into their day-to-day work.
  • Partner with Engineering, SRE, and Security to ensure AI tools are deployed safely, responsibly, and in compliance with Flock's data governance standards.
  • Monitor system performance and identify issues proactively to ensure uninterrupted operations and platform health.
  • Create and maintain clear runbooks and documentation for IT processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
