About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an IT-oriented Systems Engineer 3 for its Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. The engineer will help design, implement, operate, maintain, and secure large, complex, resilient hardware and virtualized infrastructure. The role drives architectural frameworks and provides technical direction for requirements development, design, engineering, configuration, integration, and testing of system components, ensuring solutions meet stakeholder needs, standards, and performance requirements. The position includes assessing system upgrades, improvements, lifecycle refreshes, migrations, and deployments; developing conceptual designs and implementation plans; supporting research and prototyping with industry partners and original equipment manufacturers; documenting requirements and technical designs; incorporating new systems into ongoing operations; and coordinating with government stakeholders on systems engineering matters. The engineer also supports configuration management and reviews engineering documentation, schedules, and work packages throughout the development and sustainment lifecycle. Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible for access to classified information and must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or technical discipline and at least five years of progressive experience. A master’s degree is desirable. The stated pay range is USD $104,000–$140,000 per year.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
At least 5 years of progressive experience.
At least 2 years of experience providing system solutions for physical security systems and IT solutions.
Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph; must be a U.S. citizen and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Experience eliciting requirements, conducting research, designing, testing, and implementing hardware and software solutions for data center and virtual infrastructure technologies.
Engineering experience with platforms and services such as VMware ESXi and vSphere; Microsoft Windows Server and Windows deployment and administration; DNS, DFS, and DHCP; WSUS and KMS; Active Directory and Group Policy; and PKI and Certificate Authorities.
Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining highly secure and reliable solutions meeting organizational cybersecurity and information assurance requirements.
Experience with API management and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, JSON, or Bash.
Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level-II requirements.
Strong oral, written, and presentation skills, including experience communicating directly with customer leadership and technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

Nice To Haves

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Experience virtualizing enterprise applications such as Active Directory, Microsoft SQL, RHEL, and Microsoft SharePoint.
Experience with Microsoft SCCM and Operating System Deployment (OSD).
Experience administering OCSP, such as Axway Validation Authority or Microsoft OCSP Responder.
Experience troubleshooting and optimizing McAfee security products, including Endpoint Security, DLP, and HIPS.
Large on-premise storage engineering and administration experience with 3PAR, NetApp, Dell/EMC, Pure Storage, or similar platforms.
Experience designing and deploying SQL database infrastructure such as Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience engineering and implementing data center and campus area networks and security stacks.
Experience engineering and implementing platforms and services in a software-defined network environment.
Experience with DoD IT security requirements, including DISA STIG/SRGs.
Understanding of Department of Defense standards and best practices.
Vendor certifications such as VMware, Cisco, Microsoft, or NetApp.

Responsibilities

Assist with automation and optimization of engineering processes.
Assess system upgrades, improvements, lifecycle refreshes, migrations, and new deployments; develop conceptual design solutions and implementation work breakdown structures for planning and estimating.
Advise on alternative and innovative approaches and conduct feasibility studies.
Support research, prototyping, and development of integrated system capabilities with industry partners and OEMs.
Support identification and documentation of operational, functional, and technical requirements.
Develop system architecture and design documentation, functional and performance verification test plans, and technical implementation plans.
Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
Interact with the Government on systems engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
Conduct configuration and development activities.
Conduct testing against established test plans.
Participate in interface definition, design, and configuration changes among affected groups and individuals throughout the system lifecycle.
Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structures, work packages, and integrated master schedules.
Review systems engineering documentation to ensure processes and specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete.
Support configuration management throughout the system development and sustainment lifecycle.
