About The Position

This position will manage, operate, sustain, and provide logistical and general support for IT services at the Moorman Space Education and Training Center. This position will perform all tasks associated with IT Systems Administration and maintenance in support of the following existing and future networks: NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, and Top Secret closed restricted networks, as well as commercial and other IT initiatives as determined by the 319 CTS Commander. The position requires a customer-focused approach, personal accountability, and the ability to resolve information technology problems with minimal service disruption promptly.

Requirements

  • System administration experience, preferably with USAF NIPR and SIPR
  • VMWare
  • Switch experience (configuring VLANs, ports, etc.)
  • Customer service focuses on the help desk experience.
  • Physical and virtual server experience.
  • Projection and VTC experience.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Current Security+ with continuing education.
  • Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, or systems engineering preferred. 6 years of System Administration experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • 5 years of experience with customer-focused system administration.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, fix failures, and document them in a maintenance log
  • Network switch maintenance
  • Perform preventative maintenance, which includes installing new software releases, system upgrades, and patches.
  • Create and maintain server support documentation and operational guides.
  • Test and evaluate new network hardware and software to determine compatibility with current systems.
  • Provide a consolidated help desk function and serve as the IT focal point for customer support. The consolidated help desk function shall be capable of handling the full range of IT-related issues, including: Support walk up, telephone or e-mail customer problem resolution; receive, answer and transfer, when required, trouble calls and maintenance requests in support of all missions and personnel; assign a ticket number and track communication system outages and repair actions until the issue is resolved; and deliver any and all software, designs, records, databases, manuals, guides, standard operating procedures, and similar items developed in rendering problem resolution services.
  • Other IT duties as assigned
  • Assist in the performance of ISSO duties as necessary: Implements and enforces all AF/SF cybersecurity policies and countermeasures. Completes and maintains required cybersecurity certification IAW AFMAN 17-1303. Ensures all users have the requisite security clearances and need-to-know, complete annual cybersecurity training, and are aware of their responsibilities before being granted access to the IT, according to AFMAN 17-1301. Maintains all authorized user access control documentation IAW the applicable AF Records Information Management System. Ensures software, hardware, and firmware comply with appropriate security configuration guidelines (e.g., security technical implementation guides /security requirement guides).
