About The Position

Tessera Labs is hiring an IT Support Specialist to own day-to-day IT operations. This hands-on, independent role serves as the primary resource for employee IT needs, from laptop setup and account provisioning to Google Workspace administration, security hygiene, and office technology support. The specialist will triage, prioritize, and resolve issues independently, escalating when needed. The role is hybrid and based out of the New York office, with time split between in-office work for hardware setup, hands-on troubleshooting, and conference room support, and remote work.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on IT support or systems administration experience, ideally at a company of similar size.
  • Solid working knowledge of Google Workspace administration, including users, groups, organizational units, and security settings.
  • Experience with JumpCloud or a comparable directory/identity platform and Google Endpoint Management (Google MDM) for device provisioning, policy enforcement, and access control.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot software issues, including accounts, permissions, and SaaS tools, as well as hardware issues involving laptops, peripherals, and conference room A/V systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, including Wi-Fi, subnets, and VPN, sufficient to diagnose connectivity issues.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical coworkers and remain calm under pressure.
  • Self-starter mindset, with the ability to own ambiguous problems, research solutions, and follow through without heavy oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Google Meet hardware or Microsoft Teams Rooms deployments, or Logitech CollabOS devices such as Rally Bar and Tap IP.
  • Familiarity with workflow and automation tools such as n8n or Zapier.
  • Automation and scripting experience.
  • Prior experience at an early-stage or fast-growing startup.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee IT support, including onboarding and offboarding, hardware provisioning, account setup, and troubleshooting laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Administer Google Workspace, including users, groups, organizational units, permissions, access requests, directory structure, and group membership.
  • Manage endpoint operations and basic security hygiene using JumpCloud and Google Endpoint Management, including patching, device compliance, policy enforcement, access reviews, and security baselines.
  • Support and maintain office technology, including Wi-Fi and network basics, printers, conference room A/V, and video conferencing systems for Google Meet and Microsoft Teams; diagnose hardware pairing and connectivity issues and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Manage the IT ticket queue by triaging requests, setting priorities, and maintaining fast response times.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and help implement tools and light automation to reduce manual IT overhead.
  • Maintain internal setup guides, troubleshooting runbooks, and accurate hardware and software license inventories.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and MSPs on hardware procurement, warranty and RMA issues, and specialized support needs.
