About The Position

Responsible for the smooth day-to-day functioning of communications, enterprise applications, and critical business applications for employees in local and remote offices. This role involves advanced troubleshooting of equipment and daily maintenance in surfacing and finishing departments, ensuring the smooth operation of existing networks, providing helpdesk support to internal users across Canada, and liaising with external suppliers/vendors. The specialist will also maintain expert knowledge of the Enterprise system (DVI), provide Subject Matter expertise, and be responsible for routine reporting. Continuous professional self-development and knowledge sharing are key aspects of this role, as is maintaining an ongoing development of the IT knowledge base.

Requirements

  • 2 years hands-on operational experience with Win 2016 Server and newer, Win 10/Win 11, DOS.
  • 2 years Windows networking and connectivity.
  • 2 years hands-on experience with Android/iOS devices
  • 2 years Windows networking and connectivity.
  • 2 years experience in laser printers setup, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • 2 year experience in remote support.
  • Proficient in handling and validating standard XML files.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems and networking.
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Very knowledge of computer software and hardware
  • Strong communicator and listener – Able to communicate effectively with a broad variety of internal and occasionally customer contacts, and international colleagues.
  • Problem solving ability – Able to quickly assess the situation and exercise judgment on best course of action within operational parameters.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+, Network+ or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Ensures smooth operation of existing networks in all locations.
  • Provides helpdesk support to internal users across Canada.
  • Liaise with external suppliers/vendors to ensure that external resources meet the needs of the business.
  • Provides emergency (on-call) support to end users as required.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Enterprise system (DVI), proving Subject Matter expertise to staff as needed.
  • Responsible for routine reporting.
  • Strives to improve technical knowledge through communication with suppliers, other facility supervisors and managers, and through continual professional self-development.
  • Applies that knowledge in own department and shares openly with colleagues in support of the continuous improvement of HOYA’s processes, products and services.
  • Maintain ongoing development of IT knowledge base through industry contacts, associations and inter-company counterparts and resources.
