About The Position

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for supporting Modern Tek Solutions’ internal technology needs, including user support, devices, accounts, and core business systems. This role ensures employees have reliable access to the tools and technology required to perform their jobs efficiently and securely. The IT Support Specialist focuses exclusively on internal IT support and does not provide customer-facing system support. This role works closely with the IT & Systems Lead and other IT team members to maintain internal technology standards and operational stability.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in an IT support, help desk, or technical support role.
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS environments.
  • Windows Server experience including deployment, patching, roles and services, backups, and operational best practices
  • Linux server experience including basic administration, services, patching, log review, and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting common business software and collaboration tools.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and device connectivity.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize effectively

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, Tech+, and Project+ certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for internal users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and access issues.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding related to IT systems, accounts, and devices.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain laptops, phones, peripherals, and other IT equipment.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across internal platforms and systems.
  • Support internal business applications, collaboration tools, and productivity software.
  • Track, document, and resolve IT support requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist with internal system updates, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and assigned assets.
  • Follow internal IT standards, policies, and security best practices.
  • Escalate complex issues to the IT & Systems Lead or appropriate technical resources.
