About The Position

Braven is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join their Information Technology team. This role will be the primary point of contact for staff experiencing hardware, software, or account issues, ensuring that IT support tickets are managed efficiently. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for triaging and resolving issues, deploying hardware, and supporting employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT perspective. This position is crucial for maintaining smooth day-to-day IT operations, allowing the rest of the organization to focus on serving Braven's Fellows. The role reports directly to the Head of Workplace Technology & Operations.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of IT support/helpdesk experience (internship or coursework experience considered).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in-person in Chicago (IL) 3 days per week.
  • Travel 3-4 times a year.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working knowledge of macOS and common productivity software.
  • Familiarity with identity and access tools such as Okta.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace basics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests submitted through Jira Service Management.
  • Triage, prioritize, and resolve tickets in a timely manner, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Set up, configure, and deploy hardware (laptops, monitors, peripherals) for new and existing staff.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding related to IT equipment and access.
  • Provide technical support to staff on hardware, software, and common applications like Google Workspace, Zoom, and Slack.
  • Create and maintain how-to guides and FAQs for common IT issues.
  • Assist staff in becoming comfortable with new tools and features.
  • Track and maintain inventory of IT hardware and equipment.
  • Support basic device management tasks using an MDM tool.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
