About The Position

Island is seeking a hands-on IT Support Specialist to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring employees remain productive by serving as the primary point of contact for hardware, software, and access needs. The ideal candidate will combine technical problem-solving with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership. The IT team at Island is dedicated to keeping employees productive and well-equipped, providing the necessary tools, access, and support for them to perform their best work. They collaborate with various teams to deliver efficient and friendly technical support while continuously enhancing processes and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Around 4-6+ years of experience in an IT support / helpdesk role (must have)
  • Working knowledge of identity and device management tools, e.g. Okta, Active Directory, or similar (must have)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experienced in managing conference room logistics, including scheduling and setting up audiovisual equipment for meetings.
  • Comfort supporting macOS and Windows environments and device management solutions (must have)
  • Experience working in a startup organization or an IDF unit (must have)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across both hardware and software
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) and remote connectivity (VPN)
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • A clear communicator who can translate technical issues into simple explanations
  • Service-oriented, with a genuine interest in helping others
  • Able to prioritize effectively and stay calm under pressure
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Comfortable juggling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent in English for documentation, policies, and vendor interaction

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting peripherals like printers and meeting room systems
  • Scripting or automation skills
  • Okta Certification

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary point of contact for employees needing IT assistance across hardware, software, and access issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems through remote sessions and direct interaction, aiming for quick and effective solutions.
  • Take full ownership of support requests, from initial troubleshooting through resolution or escalation when needed.
  • Set up and onboard new employees with the tools they need, including device provisioning and basic guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes, tools, and the overall user experience.
  • Help maintain office IT infrastructure, such as meeting rooms and shared equipment.
