About The Position

This co-op placement puts you inside a hands-on IT environment supporting real infrastructure in an active manufacturing setting. Working alongside our System Administrator and IT team, you will contribute to helpdesk support, system maintenance, and infrastructure projects. From resolving end-user issues to assisting with server administration and security monitoring, this role gives you broad exposure to enterprise IT operations and the kind of practical experience that classroom labs can only approximate.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of Windows operating systems, networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and basic server administration.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills – able to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Eager to learn, ask questions, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with cloud concepts (Microsoft Azure or similar) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first- and second-level technical support to end users, troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and account issues.
  • Monitor and work through the helpdesk ticket queue, documenting issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to build a shared knowledge base.
  • Assist with the administration of Windows servers and user accounts, including Active Directory, access provisioning, and password management.
  • Support the maintenance and monitoring of core network infrastructure components including switches, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Help track recurring issues and contribute ideas for long-term fixes or process improvements.
  • Assist with IT projects such as system upgrades, hardware deployments, and application migrations.
  • Support the documentation of IT processes, procedures, and system configurations.
  • Assist with monitoring security policies and flagging anomalies or access control gaps for review.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to coordinate hardware and software support requests.
  • Shadow the System Administrator on escalated issues to build knowledge of complex infrastructure troubleshooting.
