About The Position

The IT Summer Intern will support the school’s technology systems and infrastructure to ensure a smooth and efficient learning environment for staff and students. This role provides hands-on experience in educational technology, device management, hardware troubleshooting, and school-based IT operations. The intern will assist with summer readiness projects to ensure all technology is prepared for the upcoming school year.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Google Workspace
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and hardware components preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff and students
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Experience working in a school setting or with youth preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Chromebook carts to ensure devices are organized, functional, and ready for instructional use
  • Ensure proper cable management within each cart
  • Replace missing or damaged asset tags
  • Create and maintain a cart inventory sheet to be stored with each cart
  • Remove old user accounts from devices
  • Verify that each Chromebook is updated to the latest approved operating system version
  • Triage and document broken or malfunctioning Chromebooks
  • When possible, standardize carts so that devices are the same make and model
  • Support the organization and functionality of the school’s technology workspace
  • Salvage usable parts from disposal Chromebooks
  • Organize recovered parts by make and model
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly tech workspace
  • Accurately document inventory of parts and devices
  • Provide operational and technical support to staff and technology team members
  • Assist Tech Workers with assigned projects and troubleshooting
  • Respond to and assist with copier support requests
  • Refresh and prepare faculty devices for the upcoming school year (updates, cleaning, reimaging, configuration, and testing)
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information at all times
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and security of school technology equipment
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
