About The Position

This position is responsible for performing technical assignments in the installation and support of new and existing desktops, thin clients, hand-held and mobile computing equipment and software. This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or Technical diploma in an Information Technology related field with one to two years of prior relevant experience OR seven (7)+ years of progressive and significant IT experience.
  • Technically competent with various word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, e-mail and other desktop software packages.
  • Excellent organizational skills showing the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer support skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver license.
  • Proof of minimum auto liability insurance coverage.
  • Must be able to provide a reliable personal vehicle to be used for travel between county locations on a daily basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer at least a minimum of one (1) year experience with Microsoft operating systems and Intel-based hardware or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the educational field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install personal computers, printers, monitors, and any other desktop or mobile computing equipment or software.
  • Participate in the Help Desk rotation. This involves providing tie 1 support for end user inquiries and resolving technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, software and Desktop LAN problems to determine a viable solution.
  • Perform computing equipment and software problem diagnosis and resolution for client desktops and laptops.
  • Assist when required with network and server maintenance in a multi-protocol environment, using IT Specialist II and the Network Operations team as resources.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and other general tasks to aid in the ongoing support of the desktop environment.
  • Perform intermediate equipment and software upgrades.
  • May interface with vendor support services.
  • Perform equipment and software inventories and updates in appropriate databases.
  • Assist with the maintenance of site documentation.
  • Assist in the evaluation of business problems and research on new technology as directed by senior staff.
  • Provide input to senior staff regarding client's equipment and software needs.
  • Troubleshoot telephone system problems, replace defective equipment or report problems to the proper agency for repair.
  • Demonstrate commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
