About The Position

The IT Specialist Contractor provides part-time IT support (10–20 hours per week) for Anatta’s Charleston, SC location and remote US-based employees. This role is responsible for on-site hardware setup, troubleshooting, employee support, and maintenance of technology systems to ensure seamless operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise with Apple hardware and macOS environments, experience with remote support tools, and the ability to respond quickly to IT issues affecting employee productivity. This is a contract position requiring physical presence in Charleston, SC for on-site support, hardware deployment, and hands-on troubleshooting as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of full-time experience in a similar IT support or specialist role
  • Must be located in or willing to commute to Charleston, SC for on-site support as needed
  • Strong expertise with Apple hardware (MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac) and macOS environments
  • Experience installing and configuring hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in accordance with company standards
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues quickly and effectively
  • Experience procuring appropriate technical tools and equipment for end users
  • Familiarity with remote support tools and techniques for supporting distributed teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users
  • Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented with strong time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Jamf (mobile device management for Apple devices)
  • Experience working in a remote, global, or distributed work environment
  • Knowledge of VPN configuration and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with SOC2 compliance requirements and best practices
  • CompTIA A+ certification or similar IT certification
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and monitoring for security vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge of systems administration concepts for macOS and Windows operating systems

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the procurement process for new machines and IT equipment for US-based employees, ensuring timely delivery and proper setup
  • Configure and install hardware, software, and necessary applications on new machines, both on-site and for remote employees
  • Ensure that all company laptops are equipped with appropriate security software, such as Jamf for Mac laptops, including password protection, policy enforcement, file encryption, and remote lock capabilities
  • Provide specialized support for Apple laptops and macOS environments, addressing technical issues, software configurations, and compatibility challenges
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues independently and by collaborating with external vendors when necessary
  • Perform repairs, replacements, and upgrades to hardware components, ensuring minimal disruption to users
  • Regularly inspect and maintain hardware resources at the Charleston office to extend their lifespan and optimize performance
  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests from US-based employees, responding promptly and providing effective solutions to hardware and software-related problems
  • Prioritize and address urgent issues to minimize downtime and productivity loss
  • Document solutions and create resources (guides, FAQs, video tutorials) to empower users in resolving common technical challenges independently
  • Provide remote support using tools such as Zoom, TeamViewer, or similar platforms when on-site presence is not required
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all hardware assets for US-based employees, including specifications, purchase dates, and warranty information
  • Conduct regular audits of hardware inventory at the Charleston office to ensure accuracy and identify potential discrepancies
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of IT policies, cybersecurity protocols, and data management procedures in accordance with company standards
  • Monitor and address security issues, ensuring compliance with company security policies and industry best practices
  • Assist with VPN configuration, access management, and secure remote access for US-based employees
