Binks has an immediate opening for a highly skilled North American Controller of a market leading, growth-focused global manufacturer of products and systems for the supply, application and curing of sprayed materials. Product applications include paints, coatings, powders, mastics and bonding materials. Reporting to the Global Controller with a dotted line to the Plant Operations Manager, the North American Controller has primary day-to-day “hands on” responsibility for the US financial operations including overseeing the Finance & Accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate financial records, coordinating the forecast, month-end close, physical inventory activities, product costing, and partnering with Operations leadership team to support strategic initiatives. This includes direct responsibility for accounting activities, standard cost development, variance analysis, capital expenditure analysis, inventory management, budgeting, and supporting the annual audit. The North American Controller will play a key leadership role as to ERP, financial and operational management systems and process improvements. The North American Controller will work collaboratively with the US plant operations and operating staff to execute the business plan. This position is a key leadership role for the operation and is expected to be a true “business partner” and work effectively across all functional areas of the company. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent); MBA or CPA a plus
  • At least 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience in operations financial management including cost accounting, financial reporting, physical inventories, planning and analysis, and monthly accounting closings
  • Solid systems knowledge (ERP, Consolidation tools, Power BI, Dashboard creation/publication)
  • Thrives on challenge, a fast-paced environment, and performs well under pressure
  • Proven ability to prioritize objectives, delegate tasks, and adhere to deadlines
  • Experience supervising a team of finance or accounting professionals
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a strong team-oriented environment
  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges
  • Ability to build solid working relationships across the organization including with management, workforce, customers, suppliers and key third parties
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, changes approach or method to best fit the situation, able to deal with change, delays or unexpected events
  • Strong work ethic, detail-driven and a commitment to doing whatever it takes to get the job done

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in EPICOR or similar ERPs preferred
  • Oracle EPM experience a plus
  • Willing to travel 10% of the time or as business needs require

Responsibilities

  • Partner cross-functionally with operations leadership to evaluate site financial performance and support adherence to planned financial commitments and other key and operational metrics
  • Oversee and participate in all aspects of month-end accounting close processes including journal entry review and approval
  • Support inventory reduction and cost savings initiatives to include business case scenario modeling and cost-benefit analysis
  • Lead and manage the annual financial statement audit (in conjunction with Global Controller), which includes providing timely support, preparing footnotes, and financial statement preparation
  • Lead and manage the annual tax reporting and compliance work with third party firm
  • Manage and monitor capital expenditure spending for the supply chain network including financial modeling and reporting
  • Support FP&A reporting around month-end close, forecasting, and subsequent loads to the Oracle Financial System
  • Streamline and improve finance processes by leveraging and developing systems and tools
  • Review and approve assigned account reconciliations and manage balance sheet accounts
  • Manage financial resources by ensuring internal controls are enforced and generally accepted accounting principles are followed
  • Develop financial reporting and support the consolidated corporate close processes
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and with relevant federal, state, financial, taxing authorities, employment, and safety laws
  • Provide coaching and training as well as career development opportunities for direct reports
  • Provide performance appraisals and salary reviews, counseling, and other leadership activities to support team performance
