•$100,000 - $110,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Nelnet is hiring an IT Software Engineer to contribute to a project-based diversification initiative: WREN, an AI-enabled workforce onboarding and case support platform for public-sector agencies. The initial product is designed for State Health and Human Services agencies, beginning with Child Support Services, and aims to improve how frontline staff learn, build confidence, and perform complex casework. The engineer will help deliver an MVP focused on onboarding and training workflows, decision support, and guided user experiences. The role will initially support WREN's build and, after handoff to a long-term product team, may continue supporting WREN or transition to the MVP development team for another New Business and Innovation product. The position is part of a cross-functional scrum team and involves full-stack development. Nelnet's standard hybrid schedule requires 24 hours of in-office work per week for associates who live within 30 miles of an office, subject to manager discretion. The company cannot provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship. External candidates residing in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Washington are not considered.
