About The Position

Performance Contracting Group is seeking an entry-level Information Technology Security Intern for its corporate IT operations in Lenexa, Kansas. The intern will be assigned a mentor and support the IT Security team with maintaining technology systems, responding to issues, monitoring security alerts, documenting security processes and incidents, supporting security testing, and researching emerging threats. The internship lasts ten weeks during the summer of 2025. Generally, working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a comparable field of study.
Reliable transportation to the office in Lenexa, Kansas.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught.
Excellent customer service skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

Support the IT Security team in maintaining hardware, software, systems, and applications.
Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support.
Assist in monitoring and analyzing security alerts and incidents.
Help maintain and update security documentation and procedures.
Participate in security awareness training and initiatives.
Support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities.
Document and maintain records of security incidents, configurations, and network diagrams.
Assist with regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
Support managing and updating security policies, procedures, and best practices.
Research emerging threats and contribute to implementing countermeasures.
