About The Position

Gartner is looking for a well-rounded IT Program Manager to provide project and program leadership for technology projects within Gartner’s Conference Technology organization. As the Global Conferences business continues to grow, the Conference Technology team aims to deliver world-class execution, digital products, and data availability. This role will lead a complex portfolio of IT projects across multiple technology services, ensuring quality, benefits realization, and timely delivery in alignment with company strategy and standards. The IT Program Manager will be responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to standard Agile practices, coaching teams through continuous improvement, and managing geographically dispersed teams. Experience driving Agile transformations and improving organizational Agile maturity is essential.

Requirements

  • Strong IT professional with 10+ years of experience in program management.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • High ownership and accountability.
  • 10+ years of experience working with IT Development teams in a project/program management capacity.
  • Deep expertise in Agile & Waterfall methodologies; proven track record of effectively coaching teams to achieve Agile maturity.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills working with matrixed teams, management, and executive stakeholders in a dynamic, growth environment.
  • Strong ability to understand, influence, and manage stakeholder expectations and to resolve issues that may affect delivery.
  • Strong project leadership, adept at Backlog Refinement, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Agile Team Building across multiple global teams, Release Management, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and translate complex concepts into actionable steps.
  • Ability to manage project financials including budget plans, monitor spend, and prepare for potential risks.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; strong communication, collaboration, people management & influencing skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple project deliverables.
  • Critical thinker, with a demonstrated ability to learn beyond formal training with a strong aptitude for delivering quality products.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, to all levels of the organization.
  • Passionate about building high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and management of global technology-based Project Portfolio in support of IT initiatives.
  • Improving organizational Agile maturity and adherence to Agile practices, fostering an environment of collaboration and high impact results.
  • Enforcing strategic portfolio management standards and practices, promoting transparency, execution, and risk discipline across technology development work.
  • Analyzing the scope and direction of initiatives across multiple levels of management and organizational boundaries.
  • Directing multiple sub-team project plans and execution efforts into a cohesive whole.
  • Evaluating project and program performance consistently with key performance indicators.
  • Partnering with technical leadership to report project progress to executive level and cross-team stakeholders.
  • Developing and presenting rational conclusions, recommendations, and direct implementation strategies/action plans.
  • Facilitating the adoption of Agile methodologies, standards, and practices across multiple services and ensuring adherence by Technology teams.
  • Providing guidance and support to Scrum Masters in Agile principles and practices.
  • Leveraging Agile metrics like lead time, cycle time, velocity, and burn-down charts to monitor team performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identifying systemic operational issues and resolving them, as well as identifying root causes and process improvements to prevent similar issues.
  • Creating long-term strategies and approaches to control and manage projects in support of complex business requirements.
  • Supporting the development of strategic and tactical planning of technology and people resources necessary for successful completion of several large-scale projects.
