About The Position

This role involves the installation, cabling, support, and maintenance of IT equipment and audiovisual conference-room equipment for both legacy and new installations. The technician will evaluate and recommend necessary product maintenance activities and upgrades. Responsibilities include performing technical analyses of conference-room software, hardware, and transmission equipment, monitoring data traffic and network resource performance, and identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving technical problems related to network failures, network integrity, and the use of PC hardware and software, including various conferencing devices. The technician will also resolve work orders and incidents involving IT and AV equipment, perform preventive maintenance and patching, support root-cause analysis, and apply existing knowledge while developing new knowledge of the company, client, systems, and processes. A high level of customer service and professionalism is expected, along with effective communication of technical information to all levels. The role requires completing work with a moderate level of guidance within established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree with four years of relevant experience; or high school diploma with six years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting network operations, VoIP systems, IT equipment, and audiovisual conference-room environments.
  • Experience with 70-volt indoor/outdoor public-address (PA) systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to resolve situations professionally.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Detail-oriented and able to complete recurring work independently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and qualification to operate GSA-owned vehicles, including 12-foot box trucks.
  • Ability to work on-site at Johnson Space Center during business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Install, cable, support, and maintain IT equipment and audiovisual conference-room equipment for legacy and new installations.
  • Evaluate and recommend necessary product maintenance activities and upgrades.
  • Perform technical analyses of conference-room software, hardware, and transmission equipment using various diagnostic tools.
  • Monitor data traffic and network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission and reliable service.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems related to network failures, network integrity, and the use of PC hardware and software, including conference-room displays, controllers, Crestron devices, AMX, Cisco, and other conferencing devices.
  • Resolve work orders for network, VoIP, and conference-room equipment.
  • Resolve incidents involving IT and AV equipment in accordance with established service-level agreements.
  • Perform preventive-maintenance inspections and ongoing patching of conference-room equipment.
  • Support root-cause analysis activities for conference-room incidents.
  • Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures, experience, judgment, and applicable precedents.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, professionalism, and end-user support for a large VIP customer.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to all levels, from Level 1 technicians to VIP customer stakeholders.
  • Apply existing knowledge while developing additional knowledge of the company, client, systems, and processes.
  • Complete work with a moderate level of guidance and direction while working within established guidelines and policies.
