About The Position

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking IT Network Specialist to join our amazing culture. As an IT Network Specialist, you are part of a dynamic team that allows you to grow as Convergint grows. This role involves overall responsibility for application engineering, programming, troubleshooting, start-up, and check-out of assigned installed projects, which are primarily larger and more complex. The individual will serve as the technical support contact for customers, maximizing customer satisfaction with installed Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation Systems. Responsibilities may include installation, configuration, and support of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and Internet systems or segments thereof. The role may involve maintaining network hardware and software, monitoring network availability, and performing necessary maintenance. Additionally, responsibilities may include providing custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and database management regarding Electronic Security Systems (ESS). This position typically handles larger and more complex projects and ensures effective execution within budget and time schedules.

Requirements

  • Excellent Access Controls, Video Management, and Intrusion Detection Systems programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, and crimper).
  • Highly proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), AutoCAD and/or viewing software; solid networking & IT skills (Security & Building Automation primarily).
  • Experience with SQL queries and scripting, PowerShell and other script-based tasks.
  • Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of previous computer and network systems installation and maintenance, relevant low-voltage systems project installation and maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of programming languages and application creation a plus.
  • Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
  • Experience and certifications with major Access Control, Video Management Platforms, Mass Notification Systems and Intrusion Detection Systems: Genetec LenelS2 Software House Milestone Avigilon Valcom Axis Hanwha Verkada Genea Or similar enterprise ACS or VMS systems

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical support contact for our customer and is responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction with installed Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation Systems.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
