About The Position

The IT Network Intern supports day-to-day network operations, including switches, wireless access points, and plant connectivity. The intern troubleshoots basic wired and wireless issues, updates equipment and site records, checks devices against team standards, and monitors access-point status. The intern shadows planned changes and documents observations. Production network changes are handled by a network administrator.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Currently enrolled in or graduating from a technology-related degree program.

Nice To Haves

• Degree focus in IT, networking, or computer science.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day support of switches, wireless access points, and plant connectivity.
• Troubleshoot basic wired and wireless issues by locating the port, confirming the device is up, and documenting findings.
• Update equipment, IP address, and site records when equipment is installed, moved, or removed.
• Check devices against team standards, including logging, DNS, time, and login banner, and prepare routine fixes for an administrator.
• Check wireless access-point status and controller assignment, and record the result.
• Shadow planned changes and write clear notes.
