About The Position

The IT Network Intern will assist with day-to-day support of network switches, wireless access points, and plant connectivity. The intern will troubleshoot basic wired and wireless issues, maintain equipment and site records, verify devices against team standards, check wireless access-point status and controller assignments, and shadow planned changes while documenting observations. Production network changes remain the responsibility of a network administrator.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Currently enrolled in or graduating from a technology-related degree program.

• Degree focus in IT, networking, or computer science.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day support of switches, wireless access points, and plant connectivity.
• Troubleshoot basic wired and wireless issues by locating the port, confirming the device is up, and documenting the result.
• Update equipment, IP address, and site records when equipment is installed, moved, or removed.
• Check devices against team standards, including logging, DNS, time, and login banner, and prepare routine fixes for an administrator.
• Check wireless access-point status and controller assignment, and record the result.
• Shadow planned changes and write clear notes; production changes are handled by a network administrator.
