About The Position

The Manager, Business Systems is the trusted technology partner for Extra Space Storage's back-office business teams — Operations, Accounting, Facilities, and other corporate functions. Partnering with business stakeholders through a technology steering committee, this role helps shape priorities and the roadmap for the business applications portfolio (Salesforce, Dynamics 365, OutSystems, Atlassian, Oomnitza, and Smartsheet) and leads a team that delivers those commitments with high-quality, well-supported solutions across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in IT, business systems, or enterprise applications.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a trusted technology partner to business functions such as Operations, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Experienced in vendor selection assessments and contract negotiations.
  • Hands-on or oversight experience with one or more of the platforms in scope (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics 365, OutSystems, Atlassian, Oomnitza, Smartsheet).
  • Experience operating in a publicly traded company with SOX IT general controls and audit obligations.
  • Exceptional business partnership and executive stakeholder management — able to build trust across functions and levels.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.
  • Fluency in Agile / Scrum delivery, ITIL / ITSM practices, and modern DevOps for business applications.
  • Vendor and contract negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of SOX IT general controls and audit obligations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technology partner for Operations, Accounting, Facilities, and other corporate functions, building trusted relationships with business leaders.
  • Participate in the technology steering committee that sets enterprise priorities and shapes the roadmap; bring technology expertise, options, and tradeoff analysis to those discussions.
  • Facilitate intake, demand-prioritization, and capacity-planning processes that inform the steering committee's decisions and ensure the highest-value work moves forward.
  • Translate the steering committee's priorities into a sequenced, executable roadmap for the business applications portfolio.
  • Own the health and performance of platforms including Salesforce, Dynamics 365, OutSystems, Atlassian, Oomnitza, and Smartsheet.
  • Govern solution design and integration strategy across the portfolio, including iPaaS / API patterns that connect CRM, ERP, HRIS, and operational systems.
  • Lead the full delivery lifecycle — intake, design, build, test, deploy, and support — applying Agile / Scrum and modern DevOps practices.
  • Ensure SOX IT general controls, change management evidence, and audit readiness across owned applications.
  • Hire, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing team of business systems engineers and analysts.
  • Set clear technical direction and performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor team members on technical craft, business acumen, and stakeholder partnership.
