About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT’s mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. Salary Range: $70,528 - $105,793. This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. We currently have an opening for an IT Business Systems Analyst I. The position acts as a liaison between business representatives, technical teams, and end users to ensure systems meet operational needs and strategic objectives. The Department of Information Technology Public Safety/Division of Juvenile Justice (DIT PS/DJJ) business team is responsible for the design and support of all statewide DIT PS/DJJ information systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business consultation, process improvement, or requirement gathering in an information technology environment OR Associate degree in business administration, computer science or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience OR High School or GED and four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interpreting complex business needs and translating them into clear, actionable application requirements aligned with stakeholder goals through the development of detailed use cases
  • Experience translating technical and functional information into accessible content for stakeholders and end uses through training sessions, written guides, and video tutorials.
  • Experience with modern IT tools, including Microsoft SharePoint, Power Automate, and Power Apps, to help improve and support Juvenile Justice operations.

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing business and technical stakeholders to gather and propose detailed business and system requirements.
  • Supporting Juvenile Justice staff in the effective use of all web-based applications through documentation, training, and technical assistance.
  • Providing technical documentation to IT staff to facilitate system development and maintenance.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance application functionality, streamline processes, and improve user satisfaction.
  • Reviewing juvenile justice applications with the end users to identify modifications and improvements.
  • Reporting software application defects and enhancement requests into the department's issue tracking system.
