About The Position

The IT Intern supports the Information Technology team in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the organization’s technology environment. This internship provides hands‑on experience with day‑to‑day IT operations, end‑user support, and foundational infrastructure while offering exposure to real‑world business systems and processes. The IT Intern will gain experience directly supporting Nikkiso’s Information Technology department in a several areas including: assisting in the maintenance and oversight of company hardware, software and, troubleshooting IT-related issues, documentation review and improvement, remote site networking, and other applicable duties.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows and/or macOS), and common software applications
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical users
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Reliable, professional, and able to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Motivated self-starter with time-management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a small team

  • Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Active Directory or user management systems
  • Ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk)
  • Exposure to networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Interest in cybersecurity, systems administration, or cloud technologies
  • Previous internship, coursework, or lab experience in IT support

Responsibilities

  • Provide first‑level technical support and installation to end users for hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with setup, configuration, and deployment of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, etc.
  • Support user account management (e.g., onboarding/offboarding, password resets, access requests)
  • Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and system inventories
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and patches
  • Support basic network troubleshooting activities (Wi‑Fi, printers, VPN, basic connectivity issues)
  • Participate in IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, or security initiatives
  • Follow company IT policies, security standards, and data protection guidelines
  • Assist with the creation and documentation of IT procedures.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as appropriate
  • Other IT-related duties as assigned.
