IT Infrastructure Engineer
About The Position
CTG is seeking to fill an IT Infrastructure Engineer position for our client. This is a permanent placement role located in Manhattan, NY. The engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting enterprise middleware and IT infrastructure that supports critical applications. This includes administering IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional and WebSphere Liberty environments on Linux/UNIX platforms, managing WebSphere Liberty configurations, and administering associated middleware technologies such as IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, and Cognos. The role involves performing middleware application upgrades, patches, deployments, and configuration changes, utilizing Ansible for infrastructure administration, automation, configuration management, and application deployments. Support for Git-based source control, configuration management, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or CloudBees is also required, applying Configuration as Code and DevOps methodologies to infrastructure management. The engineer will troubleshoot Java application and middleware errors, perform detailed root cause analysis, monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex infrastructure issues in a large-scale enterprise environment, and document technical issues, resolutions, configurations, and operational procedures. Collaboration with application, infrastructure, and technical teams is expected, along with the ability to independently manage priorities and deadlines. Production support is a key aspect, including participation in after-hours, night, weekend, and 24x7 support as required.
Requirements
- Strong IBM WebSphere administration skills, including WebSphere Traditional and WebSphere Liberty.
- Linux/UNIX administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
- IBM MQ and related middleware technologies.
- Ansible automation and configuration management.
- Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or CloudBees.
- Configuration as Code and DevOps methodologies.
- Java troubleshooting and debugging.
- Relational database concepts and SQL.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn new applications and technologies quickly and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- 5+ years of experience in middleware administration, preferably with IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional and WebSphere Liberty.
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide, large-scale IT environments.
- Experience performing infrastructure upgrades, patching, application deployments, and production support.
- Experience with automation, configuration management, and DevOps practices.
- Experience troubleshooting complex middleware and Java application issues.
- Experience working collaboratively with technical teams while independently prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to provide 24x7 production support, including nights and weekends as required.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise middleware and IT infrastructure supporting critical applications.

- Perform middleware application upgrades, patches, deployments, and configuration changes.
- Use Ansible for infrastructure administration, automation, configuration management, and application deployments.
- Support Git-based source control and configuration management, as well as CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or CloudBees.
- Apply Configuration as Code and DevOps methodologies to infrastructure management.
- Troubleshoot Java application and middleware errors and perform detailed root cause analysis.
