The Field Technician I (FT1) position is a support technical professional who works with a team of IT specialists in maintaining, deploying, and supporting desktop and laptop computers and office productivity software for Judicial Branch employees. This position will also support local and wide area networks, as well as audiovisual equipment and video conferencing systems. This is an entry-level field technology position that will assume the same roles as a Field Technician II (FT2) with the understanding that he/she will require training and/or help at times to perform certain tasks. The FT1 is primarily responsible for direct technical support for State courthouses and other Judicial Branch facilities in Maine and provides technical user and customer service support for judicial officers and staff. Even though the FT1 is an entry-level position, the FT1 must be able to learn to work independently to perform a full range of system administrative functions in a complex IT environment and must be capable of directing escalated problems to the appropriate resources. The FT1 requires excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills. Response to emergency calls during off-hours is required. On-the-job training will be performed by other state staff as well as may be supplemented by classroom and/or electronic trainings. All training will be approved by the Manager of Technology & Infrastructure. Statewide travel is required.
