About The Position

Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) is currently accepting applications for the full-time, non-exempt position of Desktop Support Technician at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). The Desktop Support Technician ensures proper computer operation so end users can efficiently perform business tasks. Responsibilities include receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving help requests. Resolution may involve diagnostic tools and hands-on assistance at the desktop level. The technician also supports and maintains in-house technology and IT assets, including installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading corporate hardware and equipment for optimal performance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 1 year of IT support experience.
  • Minimum certification CompTIA A+ or Network +
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows Operating Systems, PC hardware, printers, and wireless systems.
  • Knowledge of IT practices and processes.
  • Ability to learn and document technical procedures.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to present technical concepts in user-friendly language.
  • Understanding of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a customer service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Field incoming help requests from end users via phone and email courteously.
  • Documenting all pertinent end user identification information and nature of problem or issue in the specified tracking software.
  • Provide off-hour/on-call support for critical business issues.
  • Prioritize and schedule issues; escalate when necessary to the appropriate technician.
  • Perform hardware-level fixes, including software installations, upgrades, hardware implementation, file backups, and system/application configuration.
  • Administer and support telecom, data, wireless, and cell phone systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, including workstation, printer, and peripheral checks and cleaning.
  • Test solutions to ensure problems are adequately resolved; perform post-resolution follow-ups.
  • Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users and documentation of IT technical procedures.
  • Maintain an internal knowledge base for IT procedures and installations.
  • Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users and staff on equipment operation.
  • Maintain an inventory of PCs, printers, laptops, monitors, and other IT/networking equipment.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors and support teams when necessary.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
