IT Business Partner

Areas USA, Inc•Miami, FL

About The Position

The IT Business Partner owns on-site technology support for an assigned region of Areas USA locations, including airports, turnpike plazas, and offices. The role supports point-of-sale and kiosk hardware, networks and connectivity, back-office equipment, printers, and peripherals. As the escalation point for issues the service desk cannot resolve remotely, the IT Business Partner visits locations to diagnose and repair problems, replace hardware, bring new or remodeled units online, and follow issues through to closure while keeping operators informed. This is a hands-on role performed largely in terminals and operating restaurants rather than at a desk. The IT Business Partner works closely with regional operations leaders and unit managers, coordinates with internal IT teams and external vendors, supports openings, remodels, refreshes, and rollouts, and maintains accurate asset records and technical documentation. The position requires travel of up to 50% within the assigned region, with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays around operating hours and project needs.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of hands-on information technology support experience, including support for multiple sites.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, replacing, and testing point-of-sale hardware and peripherals, including terminals, printers, cash drawers, card readers, kiosks, and self-order devices.
  • Working network knowledge covering switching, wireless access points, structured cabling, circuits, and basic routing, with the ability to isolate the source of a problem before escalating.
  • End-user device support experience, including Windows, imaging, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Experience using a ticketing and service management tool and comfort being measured on response and resolution.
  • Proven ability to communicate with operators in plain language and provide clear information about issues and expected resolution.
  • Experience supporting an operation that runs seven days a week and cannot always wait for a convenient maintenance window.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security badging at assigned airports, including completing required background checks.
  • Valid driver's license and a valid passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision and keep documentation, asset records, and tickets current.
  • Comfort using modern tooling, including artificial intelligence, to document, diagnose, and speed resolution.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays around operating hours, openings, and rollouts.

Nice To Haves

  • Airport, travel retail, restaurant, hospitality, or multi-site retail experience.
  • Experience with Oracle Simphony or comparable restaurant point-of-sale systems, self-order kiosk platforms, and digital menu board hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technology support across the assigned region, including installing, configuring, troubleshooting, replacing, and testing point-of-sale and kiosk hardware, network equipment, back-office computers, printers, and peripherals.
  • Handle service desk escalations that cannot be resolved remotely; diagnose issues on site, restore service, and follow through until the issue is closed and the operator is informed.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with regional operations leadership and unit management through regular contact.
  • Navigate internal IT teams on behalf of field operators, including Guest Technology, IT Business Enablement, and Infrastructure, and own follow-through back to the location.
  • Support new openings, remodels, equipment refreshes, and rollouts through site readiness, installation, testing, cutover, and punch-list completion.
  • Maintain accurate field assets with IT Asset Management, including tagging and recording equipment, maintaining spare levels, processing swaps and returns, and keeping location inventories accurate.
  • Document work through usable ticket details, updated equipment lists, network and closet information, and site access instructions.
  • Contribute to runbooks and knowledge articles to promote consistent resolution of recurring issues and enable more service desk resolutions without site visits.
  • Coordinate on-site work by internet service providers, cabling contractors, equipment manufacturers, and field service partners, and confirm completion.
  • Identify recurring regional problems and raise them with root-cause evidence.
  • Obtain and maintain airport security badging at assigned locations and comply with airport and landlord access requirements.
  • Work safely in operating restaurants and active terminals around guests and associates while minimizing disruption to service.
  • Travel up to 50% within the assigned region, with heavier travel periods around openings, conversions, and rollouts.
