The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is hiring an IT Application Developer to update and maintain financial applications in support of Washington’s One Washington initiative and the transition to Workday. These applications support accounting, budgeting, and financial operations. The developer will work alongside senior developers and business and technical teams to understand requirements, design solutions, write and test code, troubleshoot issues, and document changes. Work includes Agile development cycles, peer reviews, and following development, security, and quality standards. During the first 90 days, the employee will learn the applications, development tools, and business processes, review existing code, work with senior developers, and begin contributing changes. Within the first year, success means being able to develop, test, and implement changes that support the One Washington transition. There are two one-year project positions, with possible extensions dependent on additional funding. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the first three months, employees must work at least two days each week at Office Building 2. No additional travel is expected.
