About The Position

The IT Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of Ziptrek Ecotours' technology systems, hardware, software, networks, and business applications. This role ensures employees have secure, reliable, and effective technology by providing technical support, managing the lifecycle of IT assets and services, and overseeing IT administration, including procurement, budgeting, vendor management, user access, and organizational IT policies. The role also works with employees and technology partners to resolve technical challenges and support the organization's ongoing operational needs.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in IT systems administration, IT operations, infrastructure support, or a similar role.
• Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace, Windows and Active Directory; networking fundamentals such as routing and wireless access points; Linux server administration
• Experience managing computer hardware, mobile devices, peripherals, software licensing, IT asset inventories, and technology procurement.
• Knowledge and experience applying cybersecurity best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, provide user-friendly instructions, and coach employees through technical issues via email, video conference, phone, and in person.
• Patient, approachable, and customer-focused, with the ability to build positive relationships and support users of varying technical abilities.
• Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to assess, diagnose, and resolve technical issues efficiently both remotely and in person. Able to ask effective questions, identify root causes, and translate technical concepts between end users and technical support providers.
• Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proactive, dependable, and solutions-oriented, with the initiative to identify issues, recommend improvements, and engage additional resources when required.
• Committed to delivering high-quality work, maintaining attention to detail, and continually seeking opportunities to improve systems, processes, and the user experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support for employees, ensuring timely, professional, and customer-focused assistance for users of all technical abilities. Serve as the organization's primary IT resource, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and technical expertise across all business systems and technology.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, mobile device, network, printer, and business system issues through in-person, phone, email, and remote support.
• Escalate technical issues to external vendors and service providers when required and coordinate timely resolutions.
• Maintain organizational technology systems, ensuring hardware, software, and business applications remain secure, reliable, and operational.
• Perform software installations, system updates, preventative maintenance, backups, and system monitoring.
• Administer user accounts, passwords, permissions, access levels, security groups, and identity management systems in accordance with organizational policies and cybersecurity best practices.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures, including acceptable use, cybersecurity, privacy, artificial intelligence, and mobile device management.
• Maintain accurate IT documentation, inventory, system configurations, procedures, and knowledge resources.
• Manage employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT perspective, including user accounts, permissions, equipment provisioning, technology assignments, and system access.
• Manage the full lifecycle of organizational technology assets, including procurement, provisioning, deployment, maintenance, repair, replacement, and retirement.
• Coordinate hardware repairs, warranty claims, and replacements, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Maintain accurate inventories of computers, mobile devices, peripherals, software licenses, subscriptions, and assigned users through asset management systems.
• Ensure technology assets are configured, secured, tracked, and assigned throughout their lifecycle.
• Build and maintain relationships with technology vendors, telecommunications providers, and managed service providers.
• Coordinate technology purchases, repairs, renewals, and service requests while ensuring timely resolution and value for the organization.
• Monitor vendor performance, contracts, subscriptions, and service plans to ensure Ziptrek receives cost-effective and appropriate technology solutions.
• Develop and manage IT budgets, including hardware, software, subscriptions, telecommunications, managed services, capital purchases, and ongoing operational costs.
• Monitor technology expenditures and recommend cost-effective solutions that align with organizational needs and industry best practices.
• Support long-term technology planning, including hardware refresh cycles, lifecycle management, and future technology requirements.
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, security monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Promote secure technology practices and ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and security standards.
• Monitor potential security risks and respond appropriately to incidents or vulnerabilities.
• Support technology projects and organizational initiatives by providing technical expertise and recommendations.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance organizational efficiency, security, and user experience.
• Independently manage assigned responsibilities while identifying opportunities to improve IT operations and service delivery.
