Acts as the foundry’s primary technical problem solver, using metallurgical analysis and foundry experience to drive throughput and quality across molding, melting, and finishing. This role involves reviewing scrap and rework reports to identify root causes and drive sustained scrap reduction. The manager will work closely with molding and melting teams to improve casting quality and reduce downstream finishing, while also coaching these teams on practices that enhance as-cast quality. A key responsibility is driving pattern and method design (gating, risering, solidification) to boost yield and minimize finishing requirements. The position also entails identifying critical control points in the foundry process that lead to defects or quality loss, and implementing corrective actions. Additionally, the role focuses on reducing the consumption of foundry consumables without impacting casting quality, managing the foundry engineering staff, and applying statistical methods and engineering calculations for process analysis and standard establishment. Technical support to internal and external departments, new product development support, and recommendations for equipment and facility improvements are also part of the duties. Other duties as assigned.
