About The Position

Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking an IoT Product Engineer to join the team. This is an onsite position, with approximately 25% travel, based at the Syracuse, NY facility. Relocation assistance is available! The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. We are seeking an IoT Product Engineer to support engineering deliverables on customer-facing programs. This role contributes to requirements and interface definition, design and documentation, and verification activities under the guidance of a senior engineer or technical lead to help deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality products and systems on schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience with embedded product development, firmware development, software development with micro controllers and embedded operating systems (including Zephyr, RTOS, Linux, etc.)
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%) to support customer sites, suppliers, or testing activities

Nice To Haves

  • Foundational knowledge of electrical safety and product compliance practices (e.g., grounding/bonding, insulation coordination, EMC/EMI concepts) and willingness to learn applicable standards.
  • Experience supporting EMC testing and troubleshooting (including test setup definition, witness testing, and report review).
  • Experience working in regulated, safety-critical environments and producing compliance evidence for customer or third-party review.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and change control in a product lifecycle management environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support requirements and interface clarification by documenting assumptions, tracking questions, and confirming acceptance criteria with the team.
  • Support system design and development by helping define functional/technical requirements, interfaces (ICDs), and traceability from requirements to design and test evidence.
  • Create and update electrical design artifacts (schematics, wiring, calculations, and parts lists) and participate in peer reviews to ensure quality and standard compliance.
  • Maintain accurate, controlled documentation (drawings, calculations, analyses, and compliance evidence) in accordance with engineering and quality processes.
  • Support verification and validation activities by drafting test plans/procedures, helping set up tests, collecting data, and contributing to reports.
  • Contribute to system integration and system test engineering activities (test planning, test setup, execution, data analysis, and issue tracking) to verify end-to-end performance against requirements.
  • Identify technical risks and issues, escalate as needed, and assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions for test, production, or field findings.
  • Contribute to customer-facing technical discussions by preparing materials, documenting action items, and supporting timely closure with the team.
  • Participate in design reviews by presenting work products, incorporating feedback, and following standard work and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve issues, support change requests, and keep tasks aligned to schedule.
