SmartTech Contracting LLC
•$99,750 - $120,225•Remote

About The Position

Smart Tech Contracting delivers turnkey building automation systems (BAS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) for mission-critical colocation and hyperscale data centers. Its Special Projects & Innovation group develops concepts outside standard projects, including proofs of concept, emerging-technology evaluations, and monitoring and analytics platforms for critical facilities. The IoT Engineer architects, builds, and delivers connected systems for these initiatives, spanning field instrumentation, gateways and edge compute, industrial networks and protocols, controls integration, and monitoring platforms. The role takes projects from concept through lab prototype and field pilot, including AI-enabled data center monitoring and rapid-deployment IoT sensor networks. The engineer receives limited day-to-day direction, works independently or under limited supervision, and assists team leadership with complex-scope projects and assignments. The position is remote within the United States, with travel to job sites and lab environments of up to 25%. Work includes researching and evaluating solutions, estimating project resources and budgets, building and testing physical systems, integrating devices and platforms, documenting and presenting progress, and supporting handoffs and postmortems. The role also uses AI-enabled and digital tools to improve efficiency and supports the adoption of emerging technologies and workflows. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and at least five years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, or integrating IoT, industrial automation, controls, or building systems are required. Relevant networking, IoT, controls, or cloud certifications are preferred.
