About The Position

The Oregon City, OR Site, established in 1969 and joined the Orchid team in 2012, focuses primarily on investment casting and 3D wax printing and machining and finishing and coating of orthopedic implants for extremities and large joint markets. Key capabilities include robotic wax assembly, internal tool and design, finished machining, polishing, and sintered bead coating. This FDA registered site, spanning 80,000 square feet, employs approximately 175 team members and ships nearly 1 million hip and knee joint implants annually. The site manufactures medical implants from start to finish, complying with the ISO 13485:2016 standard. Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains Flash Fire unit.
  • Removes sealed molds from drying tunnel.
  • Ensures molds to be dewaxed are properly sequenced FIFO per casting schedule.
  • Uses hand truck, pallet jack, carts and tables to safely transport product.
  • Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Detects and reports faulty equipment, defective material and any unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
  • Follows designated safety rules and regulations.
  • Supports Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
  • Dimensionally inspects work, using appropriate tools including, but not limited to; calipers, pin gauges, measuring instruments and surface plates, etc. as required.
  • Performs weekly housekeeping per 5S schedule.
  • Follows work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
  • Performs different types of operations based on manufacturing needs.
  • Leads the training of personnel as directed by the department Supervisor or Lead.
  • Reinforces safety expectations.
  • Ensures safety operating practices are demonstrated.
  • Reports issues/concerns to Supervisor.
  • Supports quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Provides and documents training on standard of work instructions, policies, and procedures in a timely manner to ensure team members have the required knowledge and skills prior to performing work independently.
  • Maintains materials within process control standards.
  • Checks and maintains slurries.
  • Segregates shells appropriately to maintain lot integrity.
  • Maintains precise paperwork documentation to insure quality systems requirements.
  • Operates, programs and maintains investing equipment/investing robot.
  • Develops new programs and tech points as needed.
  • Performs inspection during all processing of molds to insure quality standards.
