The Oregon City, OR Site, established in 1969 and part of the Orchid team since 2012, specializes in investment casting, 3D wax printing, machining, finishing, and coating of orthopedic implants for extremities and large joint markets. Key capabilities include robotic wax assembly, internal tool and design, finished machining, polishing, and sintered bead coating. This 80,000 square foot, FDA registered site employs approximately 175 team members and ships nearly 1 million hip and knee joint implants annually, contributing to solutions that enable patients to live longer, active lives. The site manufactures medical implants from start to finish, complying with the ISO 13485:2016 standard. The Operations Technician, Investing Process Operator, is responsible for operating and maintaining the Flash Fire unit, removing sealed molds from the drying tunnel, and ensuring molds for dewaxing are properly sequenced FIFO according to the casting schedule.

Responsibilities

Use hand truck, pallet jack, carts and tables to safely transport product.
Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material and any unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
Follow designated safety rules and regulations.
Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
Dimensionally inspect work, using appropriate tools including, but not limited to; calipers, pin gauges, measuring instruments and surface plates, etc. as required.
Perform weekly housekeeping per 5S schedule.
Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products
Perform different types of operations based on manufacturing needs
Lead the training of personnel as directed by the department Supervisor or Lead.
Reinforces safety expectations.
Ensures safety operating practices are demonstrated.
Reports issues/concerns to Supervisor.
Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Provides and documents training on standard of work instructions, policies, and procedures in a timely manner to ensure team members have the required knowledge and skills prior to performing work independently.
Maintain materials within process control standards
Check and maintain slurries.
Segregate shells appropriately to maintain lot integrity.
Maintain precise paperwork documentation to insure quality systems requirements.
Operate, program and maintain investing equipment/investing robot.
Develop new programs and tech points as needed.
Perform inspection during all processing of molds to insure quality standards.
