About The Position

Greenhill Canada is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Associate (1st or 2nd year) to join its generalist M&A advisory team in Toronto. The Associate will be a core member of the Greenhill Canada team. Associates are directly involved in the design, structuring, and execution of mergers & acquisitions, including both buy-side, sell-side and other strategic advisory mandates for existing and prospective clients. An Associate is expected to understand the implications, identify key industry and product trends and provide input on pitch and deal materials to enhance the ultimate deliverable to our clients. Associates are assigned to a variety of projects and are given a broad range of responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of investment banking, corporate finance and/or M&A experience with a top-tier investment bank OR a Master of Business Administration degree concentrating in Finance with relevant pre-MBA and/or post-MBA investment banking experience
  • Experience in the execution of M&A transactions and process management is preferred
  • Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Maturity and good judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
  • Creativity and intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis
  • Develop detailed valuation models of individual private and public companies, as well as merged entities
  • Develop and prepare highly technical client presentations and materials with a focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness
  • Assist in the evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution of M&A transactions (including the preparation of process marketing materials – e.g. Confidential Information Memoranda)
  • Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships and assist senior bankers with idea generation
