Investing Writer, US Market (Full-time, Remote)

Simply Wall St
$30 - $39Remote

About The Position

Simply Wall St is seeking an Investing Writer with a US market focus to join their Editorial team. This role is crucial in shaping the company's US voice and enhancing response times to key US market events and earnings. The writer will produce timely, in-depth content that goes beyond basic reporting, offering judgment, original framing, and thought leadership to help everyday investors understand market dynamics and identify opportunities. The position requires a blend of research discipline, speed, and a commercial instinct to create content that drives action without compromising reader trust. This is a fully remote, full-time role, engaged as an independent contractor, based in the United States, Canada, or Latin America, reporting to the Senior Investment Editor.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years writing about markets, investing, or finance, ideally for a consumer or investor audience.
  • Deep US market fluency, including close following of the US news cycle, understanding of earnings season, and knowledge of what moves US stocks.
  • Experienced stock investor with an understanding of fundamental analysis, portfolio management, and long-term investor thinking.
  • Broad knowledge across industries and markets, with the research instinct to go deep quickly.
  • Excellent written English with a human, personal voice that everyday investors trust.
  • Comfortable adopting AI tools to research and produce faster, without losing writing voice.
  • Strong, fast writing ability to turn developing stories into well-researched, useful pieces on deadline.
  • Talent for finding original, often contrarian angles.
  • Ability to translate complex investing ideas into accessible, engaging prose that describes rather than prescribes.
  • Solid SEO and GEO literacy.
  • Self-editing skills and reliability to manage own pipeline with light oversight.
  • Skilled at crafting conversion copywriting that is naturally woven into content.
  • Reliable and timely delivery on schedule, and fast when it counts.
  • Hustle mentality: proactive, self-directed, and motivated by the value work creates.
  • Genuine curiosity about markets and investing.
  • Driven by reader value and registrations, not vanity metrics.
  • Comfortable working remotely, mostly async, as part of a globally distributed team.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information on newsworthy US and global topics for coverage across the Editorial team.
  • Craft original, often contrarian ideas that distinguish Simply Wall St from run-of-the-mill financial news mastheads.
  • Respond quickly to US market events, earnings, and time-sensitive matters during US hours, turning them into researched, genuinely useful coverage.
  • Act as the on-hours US voice for the company, ensuring early and credible coverage of stories relevant to a US audience.
  • Write articles for Editorial or B2B, covering investing insights, company and economic news, financial products, and more.
  • Contribute across multiple formats, including The Foxhole, Market Insights, bespoke articles, and emails.
  • Publish, on average, one Market Insights article every three weeks, alongside a steady flow of other timely pieces.
  • Weave in Simply Wall St community assets, such as Narratives and Company Reports, to add insight and link back to the platform.
  • Optimize content using best SEO and GEO practices to maximize impressions, clicks, click-through rate, and registrations, while maintaining a human voice and personal brand.
  • Produce creative, high-converting copy across the business, including campaign, product, partner, and brand work, without using hype or promissory language.
  • Support the Senior Investment Editor directly with content initiatives and production.
  • Work flexibly with teams across the business on an as-needed basis.

Benefits

  • Flexible remote work
  • Share Club: cash to invest, a free SWS subscription, and regular sessions to talk stocks with the team
  • L&D fund: investment in your growth
