About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Office of Equal Employment and Title IX is seeking an Investigator I to join their team. This role is responsible for providing administrative, educational, and intellectual leadership to support the University's Equal Opportunity compliance program. The Investigator I will investigate and resolve discrimination and/or harassment complaints based on various protected characteristics, and coordinate conflict resolution efforts. This position is distinct from the Investigator II role, generally involving less extensive prior investigatory experience and/or less developed knowledge of Title IX, federal EEO laws, and HR best practices in higher education.

Requirements

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university.
  • 1-3 years of related experience, including positions substantially focused on Title IX/EEO/discrimination investigations and/or applying anti-discrimination or EEO laws (e.g., Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADEA, ADA) at a higher education institution, in a human resources or employee relations department, for an external anti-discrimination governmental agency, while engaged in the practice of law, as a UNLV Office of Equal Employment and Title IX Analyst, or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Word / Google Docs software.
  • Ability to send and receive email with PDF and Word attachments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare an investigative plan, including analyzing claims, determining necessary witnesses, and planning relevant questions.
  • Become proficient with Title IX and EEO laws and regulations and apply them to facts and evidence.
  • Interview witnesses to obtain complete and thorough responses, utilizing active listening and follow-up questioning.
  • Compile investigative documents and ensure they are saved, correctly processed, and maintained in the office’s case management database.
  • Write investigation reports, including a synopsis and analysis of evidence against the policy standard, ensuring grammar and accuracy.
  • Work independently, complete tasks in a timely manner, and work effectively within short deadlines, including statutory or regulatory investigation deadlines.
  • Be proficient in completing tasks on a computer, including MS Word/Google Docs software and sending/receiving emails with PDF and Word attachments.
