Investigation Officer
About The Position
The Investigation Officer supports the delivery of high-quality, consistent, and timely regulatory investigations across the Child Safe, Working with Children Check, and Reportable Conduct schemes. The role contributes to a centralised investigations and compliance function by gathering information, conducting preliminary assessments, analysing evidence, and preparing documentation to inform decision-making. The position is full-time and ongoing, based at Strawberry Hills with hybrid and flexible working arrangements. It is classified as Clerk Grade 7/8, with a salary of $116,981–$129,492, plus employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading. Employment is subject to satisfactory security and related vetting checks, and all roles at the Office of the Children’s Guardian require a current Working with Children Check.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of risk assessment and investigative processes and practices used in investigating complex and difficult cases.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical understanding of law enforcement policy, practice, procedures, and culture.
- High-level written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, occupations, and seniority.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated relevant equivalent professional experience.
- Satisfactory completion of security and related vetting checks.
- A current Working with Children Check.
Responsibilities
- Collate a wide range of information and prepare documents and applications for investigations.
- Develop investigative plans and coordinate, monitor, and oversee strategies to achieve investigation objectives.
- Gather evidence through investigative tasks, including conducting records of interview and taking statements.
- Provide advice and sound, timely recommendations to the Manager Investigations and Enforcement on investigation status and progress.
