About The Position

The Inventory Specialist III supports daily warehouse, logistics, and asset management operations for a large university telecommunications and network services environment. This role serves as the primary backup to the Telecommunications Warehouse Manager and is responsible for coordinating inventory control, technology asset tracking, shipping and receiving, surplus processing, and operational support for network infrastructure projects across campus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license.
  • This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or leading inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities in a regulated or high-compliance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise inventory or asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of asset lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and surplus/disposition processes.
  • Experience supporting telecommunications, IT, or network infrastructure environments, including handling serialized equipment and technical assets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data reconciliation, reporting) and experience generating operational or audit reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate inventory and operational records, generates reports and audit documentation, and supports compliance initiatives including annual inventory audits and safety standards.
  • Ensures adherence to university policies, operational procedures, and security protocols while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of technology assets and associated data.
  • Maintains telecommunications inventory and asset tracking systems by performing cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation activities to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Tracks serialized network equipment and supports procurement and receiving validation processes while ensuring compliance with university asset management policies, financial accountability standards, and lifecycle tracking requirements.
  • Performs core warehouse operations supporting telecommunications and network infrastructure, including receiving, inspecting, unloading, staging, and storing incoming equipment; preparing and coordinating outbound shipments for installations, deployments, returns, and surplus transfers; and maintaining organized, safe, and efficient warehouse environments.
  • Operates warehouse equipment and supports dock operations, delivery coordination, and material movement to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of operational and project needs.
  • Supports daily operations by assisting with project logistics, coordinating deliveries and priorities, and serving as acting warehouse lead in the absence of management.
  • Provides guidance to temporary staff, student workers, or contractors, supports emergency response logistics for network incidents, and contributes to process improvements, reporting, and development of warehouse procedures and documentation.
  • Coordinates the processing and disposition of retired telecommunications and IT equipment, ensuring proper documentation, tracking, and removal from inventory systems.
  • Supports secure handling, environmentally responsible disposal, and recycling of assets in partnership with university surplus functions and approved vendors, in accordance with institutional policies.
