About The Position

General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. GA-SI is a leading-edge expert in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and controls system design. We have an exciting opportunity for a Deployable Inventory Specialist to support our GA-SI Aero Services Division FLEX Deployment Team. This is a deployable role and may require OCONUS travel working a FLEX schedule with the ability to live at any location. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for planning and controlling inventory levels to meet project and production requirements. The role maintains a centralized document control center for all accountable transactions and ensures total visibility of assets. It includes maintaining inputs to inventory systems, reviewing and analyzing requirements and inventory levels, and generating purchase requisitions as required. The position coordinates transfer of stock, tracks shortages, and expedites materials when needed. It works closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehouse, Contracts, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure proper routing, scheduling, storage of goods, and resolution of inventory issues.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and five or more years of related experience in inventory planning and control.
  • Must have a detailed understanding of inventory planning and control concepts and principles and a working knowledge of computer based manufacturing systems and MRP.
  • Must be customer focused and possess: The ability to identify and analyze complex issues and interpret data.
  • Strong organization skills to maintain flow of work within the unit.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with all levels of internal employees and to accurately document and report.
  • General knowledge of computer operations, applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and monitors material requirements based on MRP, Kanban, and reorder point inventory reports.
  • Identifies common inventory to be transferred to projects.
  • Generates purchase requisitions to meet project and production requirements, including complex requisitions.
  • Establishes ABC codes and order policies for parts.
  • Monitors purchased parts and bulk items using shortage reports, sales orders, purchase requests, and work orders.
  • Sets up minimum/maximum/reorder quantities for applicable parts.
  • Analyzes and replenishes inventory utilizing Min-Max reports.
  • Reviews and analyzes cycle count results and participates in the resolution of inventory discrepancies.
  • Compiles various routine and non-routine inventory reports, some of which may be complex, using appropriate computer systems or hard copy documents.
  • Maintains the MRP system through planning data input and maintains databases as required.
  • Assists in identifying future Hi-Time material requirements and may perform requirements computations to ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Assists in the analysis and resolution of obsolete and excess inventory.
  • Recommends solutions to ensure requirements are met.
  • Reviews and approves unplanned issues from inventory.
  • May assist in determining stock level replenishment requirements for Kanban locations on the production floor or in the stockroom.
  • Assists with investigations and analysis of inventory activities.
  • Responds to routine verbal and written requests for information from internal sources.
  • May provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • May be responsible for storing, transporting, and disposing of hazardous material (HAZMAT).
  • Employees in this role may rotate to other sites where both Inventory and Tool Crib responsibilities are performed and may be required to perform Tool Crib Attendant duties depending on the site to which they are deployed.
