About The Position

Under the direct supervision of Chief Pharmacy Officer, the Inventory Control Specialist will assist pharmacists in performing all routine tasks of the Pharmacy Department in accordance with established policies and procedures set forth by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. The primary focus is on maintaining cost-effective inventory while ensuring quality care. This role operates in a professional office environment within a hometown community pharmacy setting, emphasizing excellent customer service and work ethic. HIPAA rules and regulations are strictly enforced, and violations can lead to dismissal. The position requires staff to work under pressure at times with a diverse population. Teamwork, customer service, and attention to detail are crucial for providing the highest level of quality care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least three years’ experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in use of computer and keyboard
  • Able to conduct payment transactions efficiently and accurately, including making correct change for cash payments.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to manage self and environment calmly and appropriately in stressful situations.
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to push, pull, reach, sit, stoop, and stretch
  • Have full range of body motion
  • Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, telephone, copier, and medical equipment
  • Required to talk and hear
  • Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all items are appropriately received from the wholesaler, labeled correctly, and placed in the correct shelf location.
  • Contact wholesaler regarding all shorts, overages, and mispicks.
  • Reorder all short items or items that the manufacturer cannot supply.
  • Fill all prescriptions that are special-ordered or owed to patients.
  • Record all daily totals.
  • Copy invoices, scan them to admin, and file invoices on site.
  • Remove, store, and maintain all wholesaler files.
  • Order daily items as needed based on the usage report.
  • Walk shelves to determine the daily order.
  • Maintain daily refrigerator sheets.
  • Check expiration dates of stocked items.
  • Process returns to the wholesaler as needed.
  • Maintain credit memos.
  • Load the robot.
  • Run daily 340b pharmacy audit reports.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Perform other related work as required.
