About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide accurate and competent neurophysiological monitoring during surgical procedures. This job is a short-term training role. It is expected that employees will complete Intermountain's basic clinical competencies and obtain a CNIM within 18 months of hire/transfer into this job.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Knowledge of computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors or Master's degree in Neuroscience or a related life science field.
• Experience with medical terminology or anatomy.
• Experience in a patient care setting.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with surgical staff to establish correct site, type of surgery and placement of equipment in room.
• Recognize all observed changes in patient based on monitoring and communicates with supervising intraoperative neurophysiologist and surgical staff during surgery.
• Ensure patient safety relative to history and contraindications for specific stimulation or monitoring techniques.
• Communicate necessary information to the surgeon and anesthesiologist and, if applicable, the monitoring physician/intraoperative neurophysiologist, to optimize patient outcome.
• Remove electrodes and cleans up patients post monitoring.
• Develop skills in somatosensory evoked responses, motor evoked responses, EMG and other monitoring procedures.
• Manage hospital and patient resources effectively and efficiently to ensure optimal patient outcomes and to maintain financial stability of the department.
• Document in an accurate, legible, complete and timely manner to ensure conformance with current regulatory standards.
