About The Position

Interventional Radiologist Patients arrive when imaging must become treatment. You will use image-guided procedures to stop bleeding, open vessels, drain collections, and deliver targeted therapy—often the same day a diagnosis is made. Success is measured in safer recoveries, fewer open surgeries, and care teams that trust your judgment when minutes matter.

Requirements

  • Board certification or eligibility in diagnostic radiology with interventional radiology fellowship training, or equivalent IR/DR pathway.
  • Active medical license and ability to obtain hospital privileges for the full procedural scope of the service.
  • Independent competence in vascular and nonvascular interventions commonly required for emergency and elective care.
  • Documented experience managing complications, radiation dose, and contrast risk in high-acuity patients.
  • Clear communication with referring clinicians and patients about benefits, alternatives, and expected recovery.
  • Willingness to share call and to teach within a collaborative imaging department.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a full procedural schedule of image-guided interventions with complication rates at or below peer benchmarks.
  • Convert urgent consults into timely procedures, reducing door-to-treatment time for bleeding, ischemia, and sepsis pathways.
  • Select the least invasive effective approach and document why it improves recovery, length of stay, or avoidance of open surgery.
  • Lead multidisciplinary case review so oncology, vascular, and surgical plans include a clear interventional option when appropriate.
  • Standardize peri-procedural protocols that cut repeat imaging, contrast waste, and preventable cancellations.
  • Mentor residents, advanced practice providers, and technologists so complex cases run safely without sole dependence on one physician.
  • Report outcomes quarterly—volume, success, complications, and follow-up—and close gaps with concrete practice changes.

Benefits

  • Protected time covers clinic follow-up, quality review, and on-call recovery.
  • Capital and supply decisions are tied to procedure volume and published outcomes, not preference alone.
