About The Position

Posterity Group LLC is seeking an Onsite Interventional Radiology Physician to staff the Bronx VA Medical Center. The Interventional Radiology (IR) Department operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with services available 24/7 through on-site clinical hours and on-call emergency coverage. The department's hours may be extended based on clinical needs. The physician will be responsible for interpreting and communicating imaging results, providing consultation services, ensuring patient safety during imaging procedures, and overseeing contrast administration and adverse reactions. This role also involves reviewing requests, ensuring appropriate protocols and preparations, and assisting, training, supervising, and mentoring radiology residents. The physician will also provide education and training to medical staff through conferences and lectures, and may be assigned administrative responsibilities. Participation in quality control and peer reviews is also required.

Requirements

  • Valid BLS
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine, obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of completion.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Sufficient computer skills needed to work with advanced PACs and voice recognition systems.

Responsibilities

  • Timely interpretation and communication of imaging results, including entry into the digital medical record and verbal notification of critical findings.
  • Provide consultation services, comparative reports, and participate in clinical conferences/committees as requested by referring physicians.
  • Ensure the overall safety of imaging patients, including oversight of contrast administration and response to adverse patient reactions.
  • Review requests and ensure appropriate imaging protocols, preparations, and medications have been ordered.
  • Assist, train, supervise, and mentor radiology residents in the performance of procedures and interpreting studies.
  • Provide education and training to members of the medical staff through various conferences, committees, and lecture series.
  • May be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational, and administrative committees, task groups, or special projects.
  • Participate in quality control/quality management, including department and hospital-level peer reviews.
