Interventional Cardiologist
About The Position
We are seeking an Interventional Cardiologist for a Locum Tenens position in Las Cruces, NM. This is an inpatient, call-only role requiring 24-hour coverage one week per month, Monday to Monday. The physician will be responsible for rounding on 20-40 inpatient cardiology patients with a nurse practitioner, managing STEMI calls, performing emergency cardiac interventions, and handling overflow or unassigned procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. The physician will also respond to house supervisor calls during on-call hours. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. The facility has a large cardiology group for backup, including interventional cardiologists, NPs, CV surgeons, an EP, and general cardiologists. The EMR system is Athena Meditech.
Requirements
- BC required (Eligible)
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
Nice To Haves
- Hospital privileges not required, but temporary privileges are not available.
Responsibilities
- Provide interventional cardiology coverage for one week per month (Monday to Monday).
- Round with a nurse practitioner on inpatient cardiology patients (20–40 patients).
- Manage STEMI calls and provide emergency cardiac interventions as needed.
- Perform overflow or unassigned procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab.
- Respond to house supervisor calls during on-call hours.
