About The Position

Provide locum tenens interventional cardiology coverage in an inpatient setting in Mechanicsville, Virginia, including onsite staffing and call coverage. Coverage is scheduled from December 18, 2026, through January 1, 2027. Regular shifts are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call is Monday through Friday nights, 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., and 24 hours on weekends. The role provides clinical and call coverage for adult and geriatric patients, with more than two daily admissions on average. Rounding may be included, and phone consultations are required. The case mix includes interventional cardiology procedures such as angioplasty, PCI, and catheterization. The hospital has 250 beds, including 30 ICU beds, uses EPIC, and has other interventional cardiologists available for specialty backup. Hospital privileges are required; emergency or temporary privileges are available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Requirements

Board certified (BC).
Virginia medical license.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
Clean malpractice history.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive interventional cardiology coverage, including onsite staffing and on-call duties.
Perform diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angioplasty, PCI, and catheterization.
Manage inpatient admissions and participate in rounding.
Respond to emergency callbacks for STEMI activations.
Collaborate with existing interventional cardiologists and staff.
Perform STEMI calls, balloon angioplasty, coronary angioplasty, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), heart catheterization, medical management of vascular disease, coronary angiograms, embolic protection, carotid artery stenting, and atherectomy.
